People watching is my favorite pastime on a warm Puerto Vallarta night. The Malecon is a wonderful place to see the world walk by you while you enjoy a Margarita. There are dozens of fantastic restaurants and bars on the Malecon and it hard to choose the best “window on the world” but I have two favorites and often go between the two in the same evening. I usually like to start in a window seat at La Paloma – one of Vallartas oldest and most historic places for lunch or dinner. Sitting under the brick arches on the Veranda of La Paloma the entertainment come to you as Mariachi pass by and serenade you and young children walking by wave – all with the fabulous ocean and sunset as a backdrop.
If your hungry try the wonderful homemade soups or the Queso Fundido – yummy melted cheese with Chorizo. You cannot have a bad meal at this historic and friendly place.
Later in the evening I like to walk a few steps down to La Bodega Del Medio a lively Cuban bar and restaurant with live music nightly. Get a window table and pick your dance partner from the people walking by! The music will inspire you to want to get up and Latin Dance. I could not talk about La Bodega with out mentioning the Mojitos – so fresh – so refreshing with just a hint of mint. Raise a glass for me!
